In this poster from the We the People series commissioned and published by the Amplifier Foundation, American artist Ernesto Yerena Montejano depicts Helen Red Feather of the Lakota Tribe, her fist raised in defiance during the Dakota Access Pipeline protest of 2017. This vivid illustration, described in a limited color palette, is based on a photograph taken by Ayşe Gürsöz; like the others in the series, it was intended to be downloaded from the foundation’s website and used on placards carried in the Women’s March on Washington, D.C. on January 21, 2017, the day after the inauguration of Donald Trump.
