This is one of numerous designs Saul Mandel produced for companies and products for decades after he became a commercial illustrator during the 1950s, in this case for Time magazine. Six tiny images of the magazine’s famous cover are interspersed with the lettering around the margins of the composition. The design, showing a cheerful family pointing at the various locations indicated by recognizable monuments and motifs on the globe above them, is described in Mandel’s characteristically colorful, humorous, and almost childlike illustrational style.
