The idea for this poster emerged from a political-art workshop the Guerilla Girls did with students at Case Western Reserve University and was originally intended to accompany an article by Richard Goldstein in The Village Voice titled “Bush’s War on Women.” It satirizes President George W. Bush’s color-coded terror alert system, introduced in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, now transformed into a chart recording the administration’s efforts to undermine women and women’s rights.
