This is a poster for another film distributed by Progress Film-Verleih. The mysterious gray-and-black chiaroscuro figure of a man in a suit with a red-and-white waistcoat and a salamander’s tail references a key detail in this American-Italian coproduction: a drawing of a salamander is left behind at the scene of each murder of an Italian politician. A policeman ultimately uncovers a related conspiracy to overthrow the government. German graphic designer, painter, and illustrator Thomas Schallnau designed 55 film posters for Progress.
