This bold design dominated by a single boxing glove reflects the ambitious abstractions of the Polish School of Posters that emerged under the country’s Communist regime in the decades after World War II. It refers obliquely to the narrative of this film by director Andrzeja Trzos-Rastawieckiego, a courtroom drama about a man’s trial for his failure to intervene in the suicide of his brother, a dying boxing trainer. The movie ultimately won several awards at Polish film festivals. Polish graphic designer Jakub Erol produced more than one thousand posters, mainly in the 1970s and ‘80s, many of them for Polish and foreign films distributed in Poland as well as for international film festivals.
