Chwast clearly does not take himself too seriously; this comic image showing his own left hand using a colorful novelty fountain pen to draw a self-portrait with a scowling expression and with his signature pipe in his mouth is intended to promote a talk by “the country’s most famous left-handed designer” at the Art Directors/Copywriters Club of Minneapolis. The design was based on the one on the cover of his 1985 monograph The Left-Handed Designer, published by Abrams.
