This poster shows the RMS Majestic sailing into New York toward the Hudson River. Pier 54 at 14th Street, where the ship docked, is visible in the distance. The composition represents one of the earliest uses of photography in a travel poster promoting New York as a destination. As the Cunard Line and the White Star Line merged in 1934, and the RMS Majestic took its final crossing on February 13, 1936, this poster is a record of a very small period of time in the history of these shipping companies.
