In this poster promoting the Second National Student Film Festival in 1966, Glaser plays with photographer Edward Muybridge’s pioneering photographic studies of motion from late 19th century (essential precursors to the motion picture) in a series of sequential, evolving scenes. Glaser injects his characteristically irreverent sense of humor into this historic tradition, imbuing both photographic and illustrated sequences with comical and suggestive detail, not least in the final one in which a nude woman’s body appears increasingly close up.
