This poster promoting a program of contemporary Polish films was designed by the celebrated Polish poster designer Marek Freudenreich, a member of the younger generation of the Polish School of Posters. While he produced many designs focused on social issues, he is best known for his film posters and those promoting art exhibitions. Here, Freudenreich cleverly suggests to a (perhaps dubious) American audience that the films in this series offer a new, optimistic perspective on this once war-blighted country, using the simple motif of a rainbow emerging from a piece of celluloid film.
