Guy Georget produced numerous posters from the late 1940s through the ’60s for Air France, the French Railways (SNCF), and postal service, for such products as Philips electronics, and for the French organization, Maternité Heureuse. Maternité Heureuse was founded in France in 1956 with the aim of providing information on contraception, which was legalized in the United States in 1965 and in France in 1967. In 1960, the organization was renamed “Planning Familial” (Family Planning) and became part of the International Planned Parenthood Federation, ultimately extending its branches beyond Paris to become a national and overseas operation that still exists today. The design of the family group in this particular composition reflects the influence of Picasso.
