This is one of several posters designed by Boris Bućan for International Museum Day during the 1980s. The event, held on May 18 each year, was established in 1977 but it did not introduce official themes until 1992 or issue its first official poster, adapted by 28 countries, until 1997. This gave Bućan free rein. In this characteristically bizarre image, he deploys the black-and-gold palette and flat, silhouetted forms familiar from some of his other designs to suggest an encounter, perhaps a union, between two figures housed in the Zagreb Archeological Museum, presided over by a priest.
