Postwar prosperity meant that the middle classes now had disposable income that could be used to purchase everything from modern appliances to leisure travel. Agencies sprung up in major cities to cater to the many French citizens who now wanted to see the world. Owned by a female Polish emigrée, Inter-Europe in Paris was one such organization. Rather than paying Lefor-Openo to create an entire poster for Inter-Europe’s roster of travel options, the company bought one of the pair’s many illustrations and then inserted it into a simplified, geometric layout. As implied by the ski-to-sea themed couple, the destinations listed on the right are all-season resorts throughout Europe. While most of them are especially well known, Zakopane in Poland is a curious outlier and was most likely a point-of-pride addition by the owner of the travel agency.
