In this artist’s proof from Chwast’s “O” series of silkscreen prints, comedian Groucho Marx is defined by the blocky geometries of his signature bushy mustache and eyebrows; the name “Groucho” emerges in smoky letters from the end of the cigar usually found clamped in his jaw. The image suggests something of Groucho’s absurdist humor and kinetic energy in the iconic Marx Brothers movies of the 1930s.
