This poster was designed by the Swiss brothers, Jean and Lucien Ongaro, who established their own graphic design studio in Geneva, producing numerous posters for federal and local government as well as for various private businesses. This simple, abstract design for the World Ice-Hockey Championships of 1961, based on geometric forms resembling hockey sticks, reflects the hugely influential Swiss Style of the day; it is characterized by minimalist design and a limited color palette, often incorporating san-serif fonts and an asymmetrical layout. The poster was published by Marsens lithographers in Lausanne.
