This poster was published by the Parliamentary War Savings Committee during World War I as part of a fundraising drive directed at British civilians. In this simple design, the image very literally represents the message boldly lettered in red; it shows a swarthy Kaiser Wilhelm II in the distinctive spiked Pickelhaube helmet of the German army being crushed under a giant five-shilling piece dated 1915. The motif on the coin, St. George slaying the dragon, reinforces the concept since St. George is the patron saint of England.
