This is another poster issued in 1915 by the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee in London to encourage the voluntary enlistment on which Britain largely relied until the introduction of conscription in January 1916. The unknown designer shows the figure of St. George, the dragon slayer, Christian martyr, and patron saint of England, driving his lance into the body of a vast, sinister dragon that looms against a fiery background.
