In this poster for the 1994-95 season at the Public Theater, Scher promotes Blade to the Heat, a play described by the New York Times as “an excoriation of racism and homophobia in the boxing world in the late 1950s.” The repeated, blurry form of Pedro Quinn, the main character, his gloves raised, suggests motion while the red dots on a yellow ground behind him evoke the Ben Day Dots in the work of 1960s Pop artists like Roy Lichtenstein.
