In her poster for Biro: The Face of Aids, which opened at the Public Theater in April 2004, Scher took an unusually literal approach, focusing the composition on the face of the play’s author, the actor Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, and the name of the character he plays in this one-man piece. The play was described in the official publicity as about “a boy from war-torn Uganda who helps liberate his country and finds himself on the front lines of a global war with AIDS.”
