Fashion illustrator René Gruau had designed posters since the 1950s promoting the rayon fabric lining produced by the German Bemberg company, founded at the end of the 19th century and still “going strong” as the tagline suggests. While his earlier versions typically featured conventionally glamorous figures proudly offering a glimpse of the gleaming linings of their stylish garments, here Gruau updates the concept for the 1970s consumer. A phalanx of hairy motorcyclists dressed in black drives toward the viewer, the men’s jackets lined with colorful Bemberg fabrics.
