Jean-Michel Folon was one of Belgium’s most famous modern posterists, creating images for film as well as for his personal causes like Amnesty International and the environment. This poster promotes the Green Party candidate for the French presidency, Brice Lalonde, who went on to become Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, responsible for coordinating sustainable development. The graphic demonstrates how the branches of a tree take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and deposit it into the soil through its root system, while also emitting oxygen into the air.
