This is one of several posters Chwast made for the 1989 “Advertising Zanders” series focusing on images of cultural pursuits for the historic German paper manufacturer Zanders. The compositions comprised two posters layered on top of each other, each demonstrating a different grade of paper. The lower poster was usually a variant, featuring a more or less surprising image of the upper poster. This design was presumably intended for international distribution given the text in both English and French.
