This poster features the names of the 30 nations that, by this point, had signed the Declaration by United Nations of January 1, 1942, in which 26 states at war with the Axis powers subscribed to a common program of purposes and principles. The United Nations itself was not established until the end of the war in 1945.The image also shows the Statue of Liberty, an emblem of freedom located in New York City where the United Nations complex was formally opened in 1952. Steve Broder, who had previously worked as a commercial artist, produced many posters for the Office of War Information.
