In a satire on a standard cliché of American advertising, Seymour Chwast combines a portrait of Uncle Sam with a commercial-sounding slogan. Mimicking political broadsides from the mid-19th century, he created the blue layer as a woodcut, while the additional colors were added through photo-offset printing. The poster protested the bombing of Hanoi during the Vietnam War and remains one of Push Pin’s most biting works of social commentary.
