In 1972, British band Roxy Music released its namesake debut album; its cover featured the model Kari-Ann Moller in a ruffled bathing suit and heavy, pastel-blue eye shadow. Here, perhaps in homage to the album’s opening track “Re-Make/Re-Model,” Günther Kieser transforms Moller’s head into that of a slightly disheveled mannequin wearing similar makeup and a threadbare fluffy collar. Moller’s original pink-and-baby-blue outfit is further evoked in Kieser’s choice of colors for the typography that would have been applied as rub-down lettering before printing. The design may also allude to the song “In Every Dream Home a Heartache,” the band’s ode to a blow-up doll from its second album, released shortly before this West German concert.
