Milton Glaser designed this poster with his friend, the Belgian artist Jean-Michel Folon, to advertise the 1977 collaboration between the American Cinematheque and the Metropolitan Museum of Art on a series of film screenings titled “Paris/New York.” Some 40 American films about New York and French films about Paris selected by Henri Langlois were featured, together tracing the history of motion pictures. Glaser’s colorful, blocky forms cleverly suggest Paris (above) and New York City below.
