This is one of a series of prints by major contemporary artists launched in 1965 by The Paris Review, an American literary quarterly founded in Paris in 1953 (it moved to New York in the 1970s) and still going strong. Glaser’s silkscreen print showing the figure of a nude woman gradually emerging across a sequence of four upholstered chairs along with the name of the journal itself reflects his irreverent sense of humor, the Pop Art sensibility of the day, and the avant-garde reputation of The Paris Review. The Paris Review Print Series was relaunched in 2022.
