This is one of several posters Glaser designed for concerts organized by Gary Keys at Lincoln Center, often using his own typefaces. In this case, however, he used Chwast Blimp in its third (solid) variant, a typeface invented by Seymour Chwast, his colleague at Push Pin Studios. Stevie Wonder’s name is integrated into the image, also serving as the highlights on his sunglasses. South African jazz trumpeter Hugh Masekela also appeared in this concert; Glaser had produced the poster design for Masekela’s own concert at Philharmonic Hall the year before, so it is surprising that his name is incorrectly spelled here as “Masakela.”
