This recruitment poster shows an American soldier and a factory worker standing side by side, united against the enemy. The illustrator, Stanley Ekman, designed the logo for American Airlines early in his career and went on to produce cover illustrations for magazines like the Saturday Evening Post as well as posters for the 1939 World’s Fair and for government agencies during World War II. He sometimes worked in a cartoon style as well as in the realistic, figurative style seen here, much like that of Norman Rockwell.
