This is one from a series of four posters advertising Alka-Seltzer. The humorous images feature the favorite local foods of four individual countries– Germany, America, Italy, and Spain–that are most likely to cause indigestion and, therefore, to require the use of Alka-Seltzer. This particular poster shows fried sausages and potatoes in a poster titled “Germany” that incorporates lettering in the traditional German Fraktur style. Miles Laboratories of Indiana, the inventors of Alka-Seltzer, had been founded in 1884 and was in its heyday during the 1960s when it commissioned this series.
